This happened to one of my stories recently as well! I’ve been looking at my opening paragraphs too, but it is hard to know what will grab the reader.

I think the piece reaching a non-member audience may have something to do with it, but it could also be that Medium is recommending your story to the wrong readers. I doubt the algorithm is perfect.
